UPDATE: The Carrboro Police Department said West Main Street reopened in the early hours of Thursday morning.
One of downtown Carrboro’s busiest stretches is closed on Wednesday evening following a crash and damage to a utility pole.
The Carrboro Police Department shared a message on Twitter shortly after 6 p.m. asking community members to avoid the 100 block of West Main Street as officers closed the road to respond to the incident and its damage. According to the message, a Duke Energy power pole was “hanging over the roadway” and the utility company had been notified.
Carrboro Police said West Main Street would be closed from Greensboro Street to Jones Ferry Road while repairs are underway.
