Emergency services responded to a wreck in Chapel Hill Monday afternoon that damaged a utility pole and downed power lines.
According to emergency broadcasts by the Orange County Fire and EMS department, a two-vehicle crash on Homestead Road near Lake Hogan Farm Road and Stratford Drive caused the issue. Communications between emergency responders indicated one utility pole was damaged and one of the two vehicles was overturned.
Calls between emergency services began shortly after 1 p.m., with Carrboro Fire and EMS responders arriving on scene minutes later to assess three reported patients.
As of 2:45 p.m., Duke Energy showed nearly 172 customers in the surrounding neighborhoods were experiencing outages of power on their Outage Map. Crews for the utility company arrived on Homestead Road to address the damaged utility pole shortly after 1:30 p.m.
