Installation of a fiber optic line in downtown Hillsborough may affect traffic patterns this week.
According to a release from the town to residents on Friday, contractors will be working at some point between Monday and Friday on the installation along East Margaret Lane near the intersection with South Churton Street. During that time, the workers may need to close one lane of East Margaret Lane for approximately four hours.
The town said motorists and pedestrians should use caution when near the work zone and to look for flaggers, who may be used to redirect traffic.
Hillsborough said the fiber optic project is being done by the communications company Spectrum.
