A large tree fell across Franklin Street on Friday morning causing traffic delays.
The tree appears to have pulled down power lines as well. Eyewitnesses say traffic lights were out in the area.
After a day of heavy rainfall on Thursday, Orange County is under a High Wind Warning until 10 p.m. Friday with wind gusts expected to reach near 60 miles per hour.
Chapel Hill Police officials said in an update that Franklin Street is closed from Raleigh Street to Park Place.
Authorities say a downed power line fell onto a Triangle Transit bus. Fire crews were on the scene to attend to passengers who were still on the bus. That bus has been freed as of 10:35 and there were no injuries. Duke Energy is on the scene to cut the power to allow for cleanup to begin.
