Motorists in Hillsborough should expect heavier traffic than usual this weekend due to the annual celebration of Hog Day at River Park. The park is located at 140 East Margaret Lane, behind the Orange County Courthouse.
The stretch of East Margaret Lane between Court and South Cameron Streets will be closed from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The stretch of South Cameron Street between East King Street and East Margaret Lane will also be closed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, but access to medical offices on South Cameron will be maintained. During the festivities, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office will work to keep traffic flowing.
In addition, the Hog Day 5K race will increase foot traffic along the Riverwalk from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturday. The race begins in River Park, loops around the Historic Occoneechee Speedway trail and returns to the park.
Parking for the festival will be available in Orange County’s Eno River Parking Deck, which can be accessed from West Margaret Lane, Nash Street and Kollock Street. Parking is also available at River Park Elementary School, located at 240 St. Mary’s Road.
