UPDATE: The Town of Carrboro said South Greensboro Street reopened to traffic at 12:20 p.m. on Monday. An alert said, unrelated to the downed power lines, construction in the area is causing traffic to be reduced to one lane. Flaggers are directing traffic and drivers are encouraged to use caution in the area, according to the town.
Additionally, Duke Energy said the outage in the area of Old Pittsboro Road has been fixed and power is restored as of 1:20 p.m.

A downed power line along South Greensboro Street is causing a closure and traffic delays on Monday.
An alert from the Town of Carrboro at 10:45 a.m. said South Greensboro Street is closed from the intersection of East Main Street to the traffic circle at Old Pittsboro Road. A spokesperson for the town confirmed to Chapelboro a truck hit a power line near the critical north-south road, causing it to fall.
According to Duke Energy’s outage map at 10:50 a.m., an outage along Old Pittsboro Road is affecting at least eight customers. The outage was first reported at 10:14 a.m. on Monday and the energy company expects power to be restored around 3 p.m.
The town government warned all travelers to avoid the area while the road is closed and repairs are being made to the power line.
