A section of Millhouse Road under the Interstate 40 bridge in Orange County will be closed as the North Carolina Department of Transportation works to widen the highway. The work is part of a larger project to widen I-40 throughout the area.
According to the NCDOT, contract crews will start work at the bridge on Sunday. The stretch of Millhouse Road from New Jericho Road to Cell Tower Driveway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays to accommodate the work. The NCDOT said it expects the work to last three weeks.
Signed detours will be in place to guide motorists around the closure. The detour will utilize North Carolina 86 and Eubanks Road. Motorists are also urged to slow down near the work site, use caution and plan ahead due to the detour.
