George Leander Hill, Jr., a rising senior at UNC, was killed in a car crash in Durham on Friday. He was 21 years old.
The accident occurred when the Toyota Camry in which Hill was riding was struck on the passenger’s side by a Jeep Wrangler at the intersection between North Carolina Highways 54 and 751. The driver of the Jeep was treated for minor injuries, while the driver of the Camry was not injured.
Hill attended Wakefield High School in Raleigh and was a member of its basketball team prior to coming to UNC. He played junior varsity basketball at Carolina and was studying to become an orthopedic surgeon, according to his LinkedIn page.
The Durham Police Department says the crash is still under investigation. Anyone who saw the crash or who has information is asked to call Investigator J.T. Rose at 919-475-4149.
