Damage to Piney Mountain Road in Chapel Hill is causing a lane to be closed down throughout Wednesday.
Crews were on-site Wednesday morning after the edge of the road sunk at a spot where Booker Creek passes underneath. There is no clear estimate to how long repairs will take, but motorists will be alerted by workers with traffic signs and One Lane markers.

The Town of Chapel Hill has begun work to create a storage basin for Booker Creek in an effort to limit the amount of flooding that happens following heavy rain. More information about the Booker Creek Storage Basin project can be found on the Town of Chapel Hill’s website.
