According to @TheDurhamPolice, there were 3 separate wrecks involving eight cars around 5:30 p.m. Three car, including a tractor-trailer, caught fire. No one suffered major injuries. Some people taken to area hospitals #abc11

A crash on I-40 in Orange County is causing major delays on Thursday evening.
The crash involved 12 cars and a tractor-trailer near NC-86. All westbound lanes are closed and two left lanes are closed eastbound.
🚨 All lanes of I-40 West remain closed near Chapel Hill at Exit 266 (NC-86) due to a crash. The road is expected to remain closed until 11PM.

Drivers have been told to take Exit 279 (NC-147 North) and continue north to I-18 to re-access I-40. The road is expected to reopen by 11 p.m.
