North Estes Drive between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and East Franklin Street in Chapel Hill is temporarily closed due to a large tree falling on the roadway during the early morning hours.
The Chapel Hill Police are asking motorists to take alternate routes to their destinations and avoid this area while crews work to remedy the situation. There is currently no estimate as to when this work will be completed.
This comes a day after a large tree fell on UNC’s campus at McCorkle Place on Wednesday morning.
Rain and winds are expected to continue throughout the majority of the day on Thursday.
