North Carolina Department of Transportation crews are working on street resurfacing projects around Chapel Hill, which is limiting parking along a main thoroughfare downtown.
Overnight milling and paving is occurring on East Franklin Street from Columbia Street to Pickard Lane. Officials say that work will take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Work will then move to South Columbia Street, Cameron Avenue and Pittsboro Street on Saturday and Sunday. That milling will take place from 7 a.m. to sunset on Saturday and Sunday.
All of the work is weather dependent.
The Franklin Street milling is limiting parking on the roadway in the construction area. No vehicles will be allowed to park in the on-street spots after 9 p.m. each day.
Vehicles left in the on-street spots after 9 p.m. will be towed, according to the town. Individuals who have their vehicle towed from these spots are being directed to call Chapel Hill Police during regular business hours.
Chapel Hill Transit officials said that the NS and J routes may be impacted or delayed due to the construction, but the routes will continue operating.
