A road-widening project in Chatham County is causing a detour through the weekend.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is closing Old Goldston Road and NC 87 in Pittsboro to thru traffic until Saturday in order to patch and widen the road.
Officials say the repairs are needed to accommodate increased traffic that is being caused by a detour established due to the NC 87/Robeson Creek bridge project.
